From London With Love

I needed one final London post that fully captured my love for this dynamic city. It’s hard to pinpoint why I love it so much, because the answer would be so extensive. Every bit of London maintains a distinctive charm and boasts dozens of sights—how could I ever isolate my favorites? Well, guess what? While editing these photos, I was able to focus on one: the ever-persistent gray tinge to all my photos. I don’t mind one bit that these photos capture the exact look of the day.

I gained a master’s degree, fiancé and a new best friend in this city. It holds nothing but good memories. Want proof? My husband proposed only a few yards away from this spot on a freezing December night after I finished one of the most frightening academic experiences ever. It was easily our best London moment and the very reason we return to this spot on every trip. I realize I’m not the first person to have a favorite spot on the banks of that famous river, but I think I have a pretty good argument that this view is one of the best. Don’t you think?

Happy Weekend.

January Wish List

Hello dear friends! I hope you had a delightful New Year’s and are recovering nicely! We had a very low-key night at home, which was relaxing. I may or may not have dozed off just prior to midnight…oops? We had a mini dance party after I woke up that included watching this and being reduced to uncontrollable fits of laughter. Watch it. You’ll love it. We are so excited for this year and for the adventures we’ll have together. Bring on 2015!

Since I was sick over Christmas, I wasn’t able to take advantage of the after-Christmas sales, but I rounded up some of my favorite items for January. When I was selecting this list, I was thinking of each item as a wardrobe booster. Buying (and justifying) purchases immediately after Christmas is tough, but each of these is perfect for adding variety. I hope you love them! I mean, how could you not love reindeer earrings?!

Also, don’t forget to check out the Nordstrom Clearance Sale! You have two more days to get great deals on tons of items.

Before we left, I knew I’d have to take my parents to my first London home. The BYU London Centre is such a special place for me—I met five of my very best friends there and had one of the best semesters ever. I loved living here and it’s perfectly situated. We were able to stop here then visit Kensington Palace, Kensington High Street, Hyde Park and Portobello Road. It’s my favorite area of London and it feels so cozy, which is a big deal in such a massive city! I miss my London friends every day and wish we could re-live those wonderful months.

Happy end of December! I hope you all had a beyond wonderful Christmas and were able to spend lots of time with family and friends. I was finally able to look through all of my London photos and even edit a few! This trip was certainly one to remember and I’m so grateful for my marvelous parents for making it all possible.

Our first day was amazing! We battled jet lag to the bitter end and packed our day to avoid the comfy hotel beds. We started by visiting the LSE (where I got my Master’s), so my parents could see exactly where I studied and overcame numerous exam-induced panic attacks. We hopped on a bus toward the Tower and spent the rest of our daylight there. My parents seem to have loved it! It’s one of my favorite places in the city, so I was quite pleased with this. We then wandered to Harrods for dinner and well, general jaw-dropping moments. Since I’m a really nice wife, I bought my Christmas bear and saved my cool husband lots of money in shipping and such. I’m thoughtful that way. All in all, London Day 1 was the very definition of success.
