Road Trippin’

Coat | Leggings | Boots

I’ve never really been one to believe in “comfy travel clothes.” I don’t feel comfortable getting on a plane in pajamas or anything in that general vicinity. My compromise? Leggings. I’m sure we’ve all benefited from the current trend and I’m absolutely no exception. On a recent trip to Vegas, I tried to be as comfy as possible without sacrificing on the fashion front. Slouchy sweater + leggings + warm Burberry = magic travel clothes. I think I’ve found my newest uniform!

P.S. I bought these boots several months ago and now they’re half off! Only $50. They come in brown too…

The Birthday Wish List

My birthday is coming up next week and I often present my family with a detailed wish list. There’s usually some sort of live creature on the list, so I know they don’t take it too seriously, but it’s always nice to have a wish list prepared just in case, right? The spring catalogs have been arriving nearly daily, so I had lots of ideas and new loves. I’m starting to get hopeful about the warm weather and we’re planning our summer vacations. When planning trips, I tend to develop terribly romantic notions (evening walks on cobblestone streets, dips in the Mediterranean Sea, browsing foreign museums in newly purchased espadrilles…you know), so I plan my wardrobe purchases accordingly. Every year, I just long to be browsing on Calle Serrano, purchasing books along the Seine or people watching in Roman piazzas. Although it doesn’t happen every year, it’s wonderful to imagine! I highly suggest it.

Black & White

Skirt | Wallet | Watch | Nail Polish | Phone case (similar)

I genuinely can’t sing enough praises about this skirt from Express. It’s a stretchy, ultra-soft knit and is utterly comfortable. Paired with pumps and a structured top, it’s the perfect piece for the office. Once I get home, I toss on a slouchy sweater and wedges and it is a dream in which to run errands. See? I could go on for days about it—the silhouette, the fabric. Magnificent and highly recommended.

I’ve been gravitating toward black and white outfits lately (probably because it’s considerably more flattering than other options). Thoughts on black and white? Love or hate?

Spring Picks

Eye Shadow | Top | Watch | Bag | Skirt | Wedges
I’m not sure if it’s entirely normal or not, but I tend to begin browsing and buying spring items as soon as they’re available. This usually begins in February with floral printed dresses and breezy blouses – items that transition easily. Living in Utah often brings severe weather surprises, including snow in the morning and bright sunshine the next. I like to have versatile pieces readily available that are winter appropriate, yet forward looking. Navy and neutrals are classic options and work well as transitional colors between winter and spring. I’m loving these pieces individually (and collectively of course) because of their versatility. You can easily add a sweater or blazer over the top, swap out the wedges for boots or add a boldly colored hat for chilly days. So, while we’re all wishing and hoping spring would arrive quickly, this palette will make the wait a bit more bearable. Hopefully…right?
